Fiat Multipla

In October 2022, Jonas Thielcke approached me with a request to compose a classical piece that sounded similar to Giacomo Puccini’s famous aria Nessun dorma. The music had to fit an Italian libretto, but also the editing – and, incidentally, there would be two different cutdowns

No problem at all! 🫠

Jokes apart, this belongs to the most exciting projects I’ve ever been allowed to work on. This time not as an editor but a composer!

The final music was sung by an experienced tenor and the photography of this film is absolutely beautiful.

True Beauty

Spec spot for the infamous Fiat Multipla, considered the ugliest car in the world – but with impressive inner values!

About the Process

The entire aria was first sketched out on the piano in Dorico. It doesn’t sound particularly impressive yet, but before I start the orchestration, I have to make absolutely sure that the director approves the melody! The demo and the sheet music were then sent directly to the tenor, from whom I received several takes.

It is very difficult to recreate an orchestra on a computer. Actually, it is a sin, and one should always aim to record as many musicians as possible in real life.

However, since this is a spec ad, I tried my best to make the background track as realistic as possible.

This is the final mixdown without tenor:
